Romica was founded in 1922 by 3 businessmen. During 1950-1960, Romica were an integral part of the German economic boom and one of the products that made the title "Made in Germany" synonymous with quality.
By the end of 1960, Romica's factories were expanding and employed more than 2,500 workers. The brand's success continued into the 1980s. The Yosef Sibel Group took over the business in 2005.
In 2020, Romika Shoes GmbH was changed to Westland GmbH. As a comfort innovator for almost 100 years, Romica has over the years created an extensive and varied collection of lightweight, flexible footwear that fits wonderfully into the structure of the foot; Under the new name Westalnd by Josef Seibel, the product range will continue to be offered and further developed.
The slogan "European comfort shoe" is the result of 75% of the production remaining in Europe even today.
